It often happens that you give somebody your smartphone for a while. But you do not know how this person is going to use your Smartphone, which most likely contains your personal data, passwords, conversations in social media, etc. In other words, smartfone normally contains a lot of different information you would not like to share with other people. Of course, you can set passwords for different applications, but the developers proposed more elegant solution to this problem for Android 5.0 and above. Guest mode. If you want to know what is it and why you may need it, keep reading.
Guest mode allows you to configure the list actions, available for the so-called “guest” on your smartphone. Let’s say you allow your son to play only certain games, while other applications, contacts, and SMS messages are blocked automatically. For each guest, you can configure a specific list of available applications.
Thus, you do not need to set passwords for each application, and then enter them every time you want to use them. Enable the guest mode and give your smartphone to anyone, not worrying about the safety of your personal data!
This feature is only available for the version Android 5.0 Lolipop and above. If you have another Android version, this manual will not be useful you.
To exit the guest mode, repeat step 1, and, when making the step 2, click the icon of your Google account.
Each user can customize the list of available applications for each guest, as well as the list of available actions for each particular guest.
For example, you want to allow your guest to call or send SMS. To do this, go to «Settings» – Users, choose an existing guest, open his settings and select “Allow calling and sending SMS”.
In this section you can also configure other actions available to each guest.
If you have a version of Android below 5.0, you can use a third-party program in order to configure the guest mode. The operating principle of the program is to install a password or unlock pattern for any action, however, the program is easily customizable, and there is no need to enter the password each time. In addition, you can block not only the launch of the program but also certain actions, for example, block the purchase of content in the Play the Market. You also have an opportunity to create profiles and customize the list of actions allowed for each profile.
The minimum Android version for this program is 2.1, so will fit nearly all the smartphones.
